Why
Most badges about AI ask one question: did a machine touch this?
Made Openly asks another: is the maker honest about how it was made?
Using the tool is not the problem. Hiding it is.
Wearing the badge says: this was my hand, and the machine carried it.

For a PDF, video or app store page, download the plain badge. It has no tracking and is never counted.

FAQ
What does each badge mean, and who decides?
You decide. Mostly AI: AI did most of the making, and a person directed, chose and checked. Human + AI: you worked together, back and forth. Human only: no AI, or only spelling-level help. The badge is a statement from you, not a certificate.
Is this tracking my visitors?
No. It counts places, not people. It stores no IP addresses and sets no cookies.
What exactly do you record?
The place (site, repo or page address), the badge you chose, and the days it was seen. Nothing about the people who visit.
How do I remove my badge or my data?
Take the badge off. The next weekly check sees it is gone and deletes its data.
Why is there no sign-up?
It isn't needed. The badge is the record, and taking it off is how you leave.
Can I trust the counter?
Each place counts once a day at most. A place counts only after our weekly check finds the badge there. Visits are never counted.
Does it work on Substack, GitHub, Medium or Notion?
Yes. Paste the page address when you make the badge, and the weekly check looks for it there.
What about apps, PDFs or videos?
Use the plain badge. It works anywhere but is not counted.
Is it free? Where is the code?
Free. The code is open on GitHub.
Can I design a mascot?
Yes. Mascots are added on GitHub, and the designer is credited. See how to propose one.
Why build this?
Badges like "Not By AI" say no machine was involved. This is the mirror: a way to say a machine was involved, and that you are not hiding it.
We may remove any place from the public list without notice. It still counts.
